Smart Jewelry, the Combination of Art and Technology

In recent years, with the extension of the concept of intelligent hardware, various intelligent products have emerged constantly, and smart jewelry is one of them. In the time of Internet Plus and big data, the development of traditional jewelry industry has ushered in a new turning point. Smart jewelry came into being, and then becomes the new trend of jewelry consumption. Jewelry industry enjoys new opportunities for development, however smart jewelry design faces with many challenges that are different from traditional one. In this paper, the definition and connotation of the smart jewelry was elaborated; and the current market situation of smart jewelries integrating art and technology in the era of Jewelry 2.0 was conducted; combining characteristics of construction and shape, material, function, interaction of smart jewelries, and the design concepts of smart jewelries based on user requirements were discussed; the design principles of smart jewelries in the aspect of vision, interaction and function were analyzed, and the problems that should be considered during the integration of artistic value and technology functions were found. The goal is to provide new ideas for smart jewelry design and widen the road for the better development of smart jewelry and even the jewelry industry.
