Application of Peacock Art Image in Jewelry Design

Peacock is the symbol of beauty, nobleness and auspiciousness. It's applied not only to jewelry but also to various fields such as dancing, painting, dressing, sculpture and architecture because of its splendid and varied artistic image fusion. However, the spread of its image and application in jewelry design is not as wide as in the other field. Thus it's significant that we figure out how to extract the elements of peacock in various fields with its main feature and integrate them into jewelry. In this paper, the artistic images of peacock in different fields were classified by their main characteristics, lines, and colours. Appropriate jewelry art elements were extracted from them and then combined with metal lines, surface texture and different categories of gems to produce comprehensive designs. This paper also aims to summarize the inspiration and experience of design jewelry with peacock art element, and to explore the feasibility of apply this kind of jewelry design method to jewelry designs in otherstyle. Some peacock jewelries that are designed with this study theory are shown in this paper.
