Textures and Microstructures of Myanmar Jadeitite: Implications for Formation of Jadeitic Fei-ts’ui

  • The definition and petrogenesis of Fei-ts'ui are reviewed. The textures of Myanmar jadeitites are classified into three major types according to the forming stages and the petrographic features: primary texture, deformed-metamorphosed texture and post-filled texture, and their gemmological implications are discussed. Furthermore, deformation and metamorphism of jadeitites are necessary in the formation of Fei-ts'ui. The deformed features of jadeitic jade can be different spatially because of differential stresses and deformation mechanism, so that Myanmar Fei-ts'ui from the different tracts has the different gemmological features.
