Translation Strategy of Jewelry Business Website

  • 摘要: 以中外知名珠宝企业官网的中文和英文网页为例,从翻译适应选择论视角探讨珠宝企业网页的翻译策略。珠宝企业的网页翻译包含了语言维、文化维和交际维的多维转换、相互交织和渗透。不同语种的网页应适应语言所处的文化环境,传递相同的交际意图,并做到易于被受众理解和接受。译者不仅需从语言维和文化维去理解原文的字面意义和文化内涵,而且要从交际维去把握原文的意图,充分考虑受众语言环境特征,灵活采取直接翻译、增减、替换、重组等方法并进行适应性选择转换,实现原文和译文在语言、文化、交际生态中的平衡与和谐。

     

    Abstract: This paper investigated the Chinese and English web pages in the official websites of four well-known jewelry companies and discussed their translation strategies based on translation as adaptation and selection. The translation of web pages for the jewelry business website is a multidimensional conversion. Three main dimensions are linguistic, cultural and communicative, and they overlap and interact with each other. Web pages in different languages conform to the culture in which the language is located, share the same communicative intention and are easy for the target readers to understand and accept. The literal meaning and cultural connotation of the original text can be understood from the linguistic and cultural dimensions, and the intention of the original text can be grasped from the communicative dimension. The environmental characteristics of the target language should be taken into account and translation methods such as direct translation, addition, subtraction, replacement and reorganization should be adopted flexibly to make adaptation and selection, so as to achieve the balance and harmony in the source and target language, culture and communication ecology.
