Abstract: The main growth techniques of high quality crystal all around the world are briefly introduced, such as crystal pulling method (the Czochralski method), edge-defined film-fed growth method and heat exchanger method. The growth principle,technics and points of Kyropoulos method for producing the high quality colourless sapphire crystal are introduced in detail. Furthermore, the wide and potential foreground of the high quality colourless sapphire applied in the field of substrates and LED is discussed.
